Meet Our Baby | Life as a Family of Five

Hey sweet friends! Today I am sharing about our newest addition and how we have been adjusting to a family of five. It’s crazy to think that we have 3 little boys in our house, but we couldn’t be happier!

As I write this, our sweet baby, Brixton, is 12 days old. These past 2 weeks have been such a blur but in the best way possible.

Our Birth Story

I had an induction scheduled for Monday morning and my doctor told me that the hospital would be calling me sometime on the Thursday or Friday prior to finalize times and everything. Thursday and Friday had come and gone and I still had not gotten a call. Being a Type A personality, it was stressing me out. We had my older boy’s school Meet the Teacher on Friday morning and then we spent the day being lazy and just hanging out – little did we know that would be the last time we were together as just a family of four.

My Hubby and I got the kitchen cleaned up that night after the boys went to bed and then we enjoyed a brownie and homemade ice cream on the couch while we binged our latest Netflix show. At 10:20pm, he got a call from work to come in because an emergency had arose. Jokingly we said, “now your water will break tonight”.

After he left I went and got in bed to get some rest before I spent Saturday doing one final deep clean. I ended up watching Tik Toks out of pure boredom and to keep my mind off the hospital not calling me. At 11:35pm I got up one last time to use the bathroom before I went to sleep and as I rolled over I felt a warm gush. My water had just broken!

I got to the bathroom as fast as possible and called my Hubby. I was kinda freaking out because I had always been induced and my body had never done this before and go figure it happened in the middle of the night when my husband was at work!

Luckily he was just finishing up his job and they were headed to clock out but he rushed home. Frantically I called my mom freaking out, too because I wasn’t sure what to do. She told me to take some deep breaths and calm down and call labor and delivery to let them know I was coming in.

I hopped in the shower to shave my legs one last time and threw the rest of the things we needed in our hospital bag.

My Hubby finally got home and my in-laws arrived to stay with the boys and we headed to the hospital. We finally got checked in and in a room by 2am.

After laboring for 10 hours, we finally welcomed our Brixton Grey.

He has been our easiest baby (maybe that’s just because we have this parenting thing down, ha!) so far and we are so in love with him!

Life as Five

I have been taking the time to slow down and really cherish this time which has been such a nice change of pace. Our older boys started school on the Monday after Brixton’s birth so being home with a newborn and having to juggle school drop off and pick up has been eventful.

Our boys are in love with their baby brother and watching them go to comfort him if he starts to stir or just wanting to hold him has been so sweet.

We have been enjoying this time together to soak in all the newborn snuggles and we are so blessed to be given another gift from God.

Thank you for being here and all your love and support of our not so little family! We love you all!
