A Cozy Doorway
After spending time in England over the summer and seeing how much pride people took in their front entries, I knew I wanted to create a super cozy doorway. I created a beautiful, full garland around our front door and adorned it with large ornaments, berry clusters, different foliage, and twinkling lights.

I was feeling crafty one day and stumbled upon the viral Walmart paintable nutcrackers online, and decided to create my own. My children named him Sir Nuttingham, and he now greets everyone at the front door.

The Entryway Hall
Our entryway is essentially a long hall, and decorating it for Christmas has been a bit tricky because there aren’t many places to add decor. This past spring, we added the wooden pegs to our shiplap wall in the entry. This gave me a place to hang up some of our extra stockings with all of our initials.

On the opposite side, we have our entryway table, to which I added some Norfolk pine garlands to the mirror, and a few Christmas touches. I keep a small pencil tree in the entryway, and this gives such a pretty glow through the front door in the evenings.

Our Heirloom Piano
When my Grandmother passed, my Grandpa gave me her piano. I love decorating the piano, and Christmas decor is even more special because it was also her favorite holiday. I found the large mirror above it on Facebook Marketplace for $40, and it fits the space perfectly. I added some wicker bells to a swag I made from two Norfolk pine stems, and I finished it with a tartan bow.

On top of the piano, I have a few pieces of art and sheet music. I also have some books stacked underneath a plant, as well as a silver champagne bucket that I placed a small tabletop tree in this year. Books are a great way to add height and color to your home decor!

I have found that as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to love silver pieces. This champagne bucket is not vintage, and I found it on Wayfair, but it has aged beautifully.

The Formal Dining Room

Our dining room is a space that I like to complement the living room’s decor. We have an open concept space, and I try to reflect the main tree’s decor in the dining room tree. In the corner, I have another pencil tree, and the soft glow that it gives off in this space is spectacular. As for decorations, I kept it simple with a gold-bead garland, burgundy poinsettias, and my favorite candle clips.

This past year, I have started adding more decor to our sideboard. I purchased this beautiful cream tulip vase from Target this year and filled it with various Christmas greenery from Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I added some red berry picks to give the arrangement a touch of red. I filled a silver tray I found at the thrift shop with dried oranges and tiny bells that I’ve had for years. I swapped out my cream candles for a pair of red ones I had.

On the light fixture, I draped a small garland I purchased last year. I love the cozy, cottage feel this adds. On the table, I styled a thrifted vase with some cranberries and a candle.

The Living Room

Our living room has gone through quite a few changes this year, and decorating was especially fun! I believe it’s okay if Christmas decor feels a bit overwhelming. It’s only for a short season, and as the days get shorter, all those extra twinkle lights are much appreciated!

Our living room tree is the 7.5-foot Jackson Noble from Home Depot, and it is the perfect tree for our space. The lights are just warm enough, the branches are natural-looking and sturdy enough to hold heavier ornaments, and we just love the overall look.

I kept the decorations the same as last year: a traditional colorway of red, green, and gold. I love to add stacked ribbon and picks of all kinds to add color and texture. This year, for the top of the tree, I added in some pheasant feathers that I had on hand. This really gave it that Ralph Lauren look!

For our mantle, I use the same two garlands as in years past, but this year I added some dried hydrangeas from my garden and some dried oranges. I really love the texture and color it gave the mantle overall! I found the star-shaped bells at HomeGoods earlier this season. I love the switch from a traditional bell!

I found these gorgeous tartan pillow covers on Amazon and swapped out 2 of my everyday pillowcases for these. On the coffee table, I added a few winter stems and the red berry stems to the vase I keep in the tray. I styled my oversized bells in the tray and gave them a pop of red with velvet ribbon.

The corner in our living room is one of my favorite spots. A few weeks ago, I brought in a dresser I found on Facebook Marketplace last year. It fit the space perfectly and felt so much better than the various round tables I had before.

On top of the dresser, I added a thrifted silver tray and a thrifted hurricane with a candle. I used small wreaths to flank the bottom of the hurricane. I brought in some Martha Stewart Christmas books to stack beside it and added my myrtle topiary and a small glass tree. On a piece of art above, I added a small wreath with the same red velvet ribbon tied in a. bow.

The Kitchen and Breakfast Nook
As a family of 5, we need the kitchen to stay as simple as possible. I like to style a tray of some sort on our island and decorate that for the season. This past fall, I purchased this gorgeous round tray from Target and filled it with a greenery vase, a mercury glass tree, and some reindeer plates that my Mom passed down to me.

Over in the breakfast nook, we finally finished our glass cabinet doors. This build has been two years in the making, and it turned out better than I ever imagined! I love styling the open shelving each year. I kept it fairly similar to last year but swapped out the greenery.

We also turned this space into a little bar area underneath the shelves. I added a small tabletop tree to the liquor tray and added some velvet ribbon to the decanter. It’s the perfect pop of Christmas!

Thanks for breaking this down into simple steps — very useful.
